Course Description
This course will introduce you to the complexity of the Canadian healthcare system and the policy development process. The policy landscape is particularly important to the development and accessibility of new(er) digital health technologies or technology-related services for older adults. Unlike your previous courses, Policy and AgeTech will not include significant assigned readings or group activities. Instead, it will emphasize each individual’s research, and ability to convey the importance of said research and its policy implications, to create real-world impact.
To begin, please view the course introduction below by Dr. Robyn Tamblyn.
Course Goals
By the end of this course, you will:
- Describe how your own work or research interests align with policy priorities and current policies within a particular jurisdiction
- Summarize the range of current policies and practices across different jurisdictions that pertain to your own work or research interest
- Apply knowledge of policy priorities and jurisdictional differences to present a policy recommendation in a policy brief.
